BEST SOUP TO USE UP LEFTOVERS

Alessi Zuppa Toscana - Tuscan White Bean Soup

  • Dried product that stores easily
  • Great with added bits of meats and/or vegetables
  • Also great when you add a can of chicken
  • Top with Parmesan Cheese and a drizzle of Olive Oil for extra flavor

TIPS FROM PARTICIPANTS

  • Collapsible colanders, bowls and differently sized dish racks made from silicone.  Available from Bed, Bath & Beyond, Marshall’s and T J Maxx
  • Book: An Embarrassment of Mangoes A book about a Canadian couple who cruised down the Caribbean chain.  Great story and good recipes.
  • Book: Care and Feeding of The Sailing Crew
  • Brinkman for canned meat (suggested to choose “no salt” versions)  Check their website
  • Debbie Green Bags.  Keeps veggies fresh.  Make sure they are zip-seal type, and suck the air out before closing
  • Put Bay Leaves in jars, bags of rice and pasta to keep out small bugs
  • Soda Maker - www.sodaclub.com Carbonates water to make soda water, tonic or 25 flavors of soda
  • Seal-A-Meal.  Vacuum seal meat or fish in serving sized portions
  • Idahoan Instant Mashed Potatoes are great.  Can be bought in bulk at Sam’s Club.
  • Add 1/2 can Cream of Mushroom Soup to Progresso Soup to make a creamy satisfying meal.
  • Use a pressure cooker.  You use less energy and can make bread in it.
  • Freeze dried ice cream.  Mountain House.  Gamma irradiated food.
  • Jet Boil pots to reduce energy use and heat.  You can insulate regular pots and lids from McMaster Carr.
